A mouse was having a very thought time. She had no food for many days and made strenuous efforts get her food. All her efforts went in vain. She looked everywhere to find her food. As the days pass by, she became very thin. One day, the mouse found a basket with corns. She also noticed a tiny hole in the basket, which was sufficient enough to move her in. She easily moved inside the hole. Since she had no foods for many days, she ate a large amount of corn. Without realizing her, she continuously ate more and more corns. She realized very later that she ate a lot more than she actually required. After eating a whole lot of corn, she became very fat!

The Legend of Toba Lake
In the past, there lived a young orphan farm in the northern part of the island of Sumatra. Syahdan, the young man made his life from farming and fishing. On a day while he was fishing he got a fish which was so beautiful in golden brown. While he was holding it, the
fish turned into a beautiful princess. The princess was a woman who was condemned for violating the prohibitions and it would turn into a kind of creature who first touched it. Because at that time the human touched it, then it turned into a princess.
Fascinated by her beauty, the young man asked her to be his wife. The application was accepted on condition that the young man was not allowed to tell the origin of the princess who came originally from fish. The young man agreed this requirement. Having got married for a year, the couple got a boy but he had a bad habit that was he never felt satisfy while he was eating. He ate all the food.

Pada suatu hari ketika ia sedang memancing ia mendapat seekor ikan yang sangat indah yang berwarna kuning keemasan. Begitu dipegangnya, ikan tersebut berubah menjadi seorang putri jelita. Putri itu adalah wanita yang dikutuk karena melanggar suatu larangan dan ia akan berubah menjadi sejenis mahluk yang pertama menyentuhnya. Karena pada waktu itu yang menyentuhnya adalah manusia, maka ia berubah menjadi seorang putri.
Terpesona oleh kecantikannya, maka pemuda tersebut memintanya menjadi isterinya. Lamaran tersebut diterima dengan syarat bahwa pemuda itu tidak diperbolehkan menceritakan asal-usul sang putri yang berasal dari ikan.Pemuda tani itu menyanggupi syarat tersebut. Setelah menikah selama satu tahun, pasangan suami istri tersebut mendapatkan seorang anak laki-laki namun ia mempunyai kebiasaan buruk yaitu tidak pernah kenyang. Ia makan semua makanan yang ada.
Pada suatu hari anak laki-laki itu memakan semua makanan yang seharusnya diberikan ke pada ayahnya. Pemuda itu dengan sangat jengkelnya kemudian berkata: "dasar anak keturunan ikan!"Pernyataan itu dengan sendirinya membuka rahasia dari isterinya dan melanggar janjinya.

Once upon a time, there was a King named Sulahkromo. The king was helped by a Prime Minister named Raden Sidopekso. The Prime Minister had a wife named Sri Tanjung. She was so beautiful that the king really wanted to marry his wife.
One day, the King assigned his Prime Minister to a long mission. While the Prime Minister was away from his wife, the King t ried to get Sri Tanjung. However he failed and he was very angry. Thus, when Sidopekso went back, the King told him that his wife was such an unfaithful wife. Soon the Prime Minister was very angry with his wife. Sri Tanjung said that it was untrue but Sidopekso didn’t believe her and said that he would kill her. Then he brought his wife to the river bank. Before he killed her and threw her into the river, his wife had said that her innocence would be proven After Sidopekso killed her. After that, he threw her dead body into the dirty river.
The shocking fact happened not long after that when the river immediately became clean and began to spread a wonderful fragrance around. Sidopekso said, “Banyu…Wangi…or Banyuwangi”. This means “fragrant water”. Banyuwangi was born from

Suatu hari, Raja Menugaskan Perdana Menteri untuk sebuah misi yang lama. Sementara Perdana Menteri itu jauh dari istrinya, sang Raja mencoba untuk mendapatkan Sri Tanjung. Namun ia gagal dan dia sangat marah. Jadi, ketika Sidopekso kembali, Raja mengatakan kepadanya bahwa istrinya adalah seorang istri yang tidak setia. Segera Perdana Menteri menjadi sangat marah terhadap istrinya. Sri Tanjung mengatakan bahwa itu tidak benar tetapi Sidopekso tidak percaya dan mengatakan bahwa ia akan membunuhnya.
