2 preliminary pile tests shall be undertaken at each bridge location or agreed with the Engineer At least one percent of working pile tests shall be undertaken on piles agreed with the Engineer, or as shown on the Drawings

A preliminary test pile shall be considered to have failed when any of the following conditions apply:  Any of the above criteria apply at working loads  The maximum load specified has not been achieved A working pile shall be considered to have failed when any of the following conditions apply:  On completion of a load test, the residual settlement after rebound exceeds 6 mm.  The test load as specified in the contract shall not have been achieved.  The maximum settlement under 1.5 working load specified on the drawings exceeds 10mm or 1% of the least lateral dimension of the pile, whichever is the greater.
